INCHEON — Incheon's two main logistics hubs, its port and airport, are joining forces to accelerate efforts to attract sea-air combined transport (Sea&Air) cargo.
The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) said on the 26th that it held an on-site briefing jointly with Incheon International Airport Corporation to expand sea-air combined transport volumes. The event was designed to promote the competitiveness of a combined transport model that ships cargo in a single flow by pairing the cost efficiency of sea freight with the speed of air freight.
The briefing drew officials from more than 20 freight-forwarding companies that use Incheon Port and Incheon Airport. Participants toured major sites in person, including the Incheon Port International Passenger Terminal, the Incheon Port Smart Joint Logistics Center and the Incheon International Airport cargo terminal.
At the site, the two organizations introduced the cargo linkage system connecting Incheon Port and Incheon Airport, along with expedited customs and processing procedures. They also outlined the IPA's dedicated incentive program for combined transport, aimed at boosting cargo volumes.
Combined transport volumes between Incheon Port and Incheon Airport have continued to grow. They rose from 43,288 tons in 2024 to 44,189 tons in 2025, and the cumulative volume for January through July this year reached about 23,303 tons, up 14.2% from 20,404 tons in the same period a year earlier.
"Sea&Air combined transport is a highly efficient shipping method that cuts both time and logistics costs," said Kim Sang-ki, executive vice president for operations at the Incheon Port Authority. "As volumes keep rising, we will strengthen on-site communication and marketing to further expand the amount of cargo we attract."
