Seoul's Dongjak District is offering free car inspections ahead of the Chuseok holiday to help residents travel safely to their hometowns.
The checkups are available for 200 passenger cars owned by district residents. Taxis, rental cars, foreign-made vehicles and electric vehicles are excluded. The inspections will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 10 in the pilotis area on the first floor of the Dongjak District Office. Applications open on September 3 through the Dongjak District integrated reservation system, with 40 slots available per time period on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ten mechanics from the Dongjak chapter of the Seoul Central Automobile Repair Cooperative will take part. They will inspect major components such as engines and brakes and top up low oil and antifreeze. Consumable items such as wipers and light bulbs will also be replaced on-site depending on their condition.
Vehicles requiring detailed inspection or separate repairs will be directed to visit professional repair shops.
