Yonsei University will build a large innovation growth complex housing an artificial intelligence college and a specialized cardiovascular and cerebrovascular care center at its Sinchon campus in Seoul. A new medical school will also be constructed, with more than 200,000 square meters of educational and medical facilities to be built in phases through 2031, significantly reshaping the campus.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 17th that its 15th Urban Planning Committee meeting, held on the 16th, approved with revisions a plan to change the detailed facility development plan for Yonsei University's urban planning facility (school) designation at 134 Sinchon-dong, Seodaemun-gu.
Under the decision, a 17-story innovation growth building with a total floor area of about 109,000 square meters will rise on the site of the university's existing alumni hall. The building will house the College of Artificial Intelligence Convergence and a specialized cardiovascular and cerebrovascular care center, bringing AI education and research together with specialized medical services in a single space.
The project also includes space open to local residents and young people, beyond facilities for university use. About 13,000 square meters, more than 10% of the entire innovation growth building, will be set aside as community contribution facilities. Plans call for an "AI Open Campus" offering local young people career experience in AI and startup education, along with an "Open Culture Classroom" for residents and a shared parking facility.

Yonsei University's medical school will also be replaced with a new building. An 11-story medical school with a total floor area of about 97,000 square meters will be built on the site of the existing Allen Hall and the Yonsei University Health System administration building.
Combined, the two projects total about 206,000 square meters. The medical school will break ground first in June next year and is scheduled for completion in June 2030. Construction of the innovation growth building will begin in March 2028, with completion targeted for August 2031.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government expects the urban planning change to allow Yonsei University to expand its AI education and research capabilities and medical functions while sharing part of its campus facilities with the surrounding community.
