Volkswagen Korea said on the 14th that it will launch the Golf GTI Black Edition, a version with special design elements and purchase incentives, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Golf GTI's debut in South Korea.
The Golf GTI is a high-performance hatchback combining strong performance with practicality, first introduced to the Korean market by Volkswagen Korea in 2006. The Black Edition is a limited model marking both the 50th anniversary of the GTI's global launch and the 20th anniversary of its Korean debut, with a design that further emphasizes the car's sporty character and individuality.
The Black Edition features a black body with exclusive side decals combining the red color and honeycomb pattern that symbolize the GTI, giving the car a distinctive presence and the dynamic look characteristic of high-performance models.
Volkswagen Korea has prepared a range of purchase benefits alongside the launch so customers can experience the special value of the GTI.
The first 50 buyers will receive a "GTI Collection Sports Bag," a lifestyle item reflecting the GTI's identity. Buyers will also receive a "Volkswagen Service Package" worth 2 million won free of charge, consisting of key consumable parts needed for vehicle maintenance. The package covers engine oil and oil filters, along with air conditioning filters, spark plugs, brake pads and brake fluid, and front and rear wiper blades. It can be used for five years after purchase, easing the long-term burden of vehicle upkeep.
The company is also offering special financing promotions to all GTI buyers to make the car available on more affordable terms. Buyers of the Golf GTI, which carries a suggested retail price of 52.75 million won, can use a 48-month interest-free installment plan through Hana Capital financing, paying 43.2% up front and 624,460 won a month for 48 months.
A 60-month low-interest installment plan requires a 30% down payment and carries an annual interest rate of 1.94%, with monthly payments of 646,290 won. The financing program applies to all Golf GTI models, including the Black Edition.
Buyers also receive a warranty extension program covering five years or 150,000 kilometers, as well as a program that covers the customer's deductible for accident repairs, capped at 500,000 won per accident during the first year.
Volkswagen Korea is also arranging a special experience for customers. Buyers of the GTI Black Edition will be entered into a drawing for an invitation to the 2026 Volkswagen Golf Treffen, to be held in Yongin on Oct. 17. The Golf Treffen is an owner community event centered on the Golf, one of Volkswagen's iconic models, bringing together Golf owners and the wider Volkswagen community.
"The Golf GTI has been loved in the Korean market for 20 years, and this Black Edition is a model we prepared to mark that milestone in an especially meaningful way," Volkswagen Korea President Michael Ahnt said. "Through a design that highlights the GTI's distinctive character and tangible customer benefits, buyers will be able to experience the special value that only a limited model can offer."
