KDB Life Insurance is working to improve its core insurance business by expanding the recruitment of captive agents and strengthening its training system for new hires.
The company said on the 25th that the average number of new agents it appointed each month this year roughly doubled from a year earlier.
KDB Life said it also overhauled its training curriculum to help new agents stay with the company over the long term. It introduced a regular education program to ease early adjustment and build a sense of belonging, and it supports field practice, customer development and product expertise through the "STEP course," a month-by-month, stage-by-stage training system.
To support new agents in settling in early, the company is also making full use of an "AI Customer Database Marketing Platform" that identifies and matches optimal customers based on data. The company said this has established a virtuous cycle of sales in which experienced high-performing agents and new agents produce results evenly, going beyond a simple increase in headcount.
Strengthening the in-house channel also led to better earnings. KDB Life's cumulative insurance profit for the first half of this year reached 28.7 billion won, up 15.7 billion won from 13 billion won in the same period a year earlier.
Nam Kyu-hyun, an executive director who heads KDB Life's captive channel division, said recruitment is a key driver that goes beyond simply expanding the organization to inject new energy into the field and qualitatively raise the company's core competitiveness. He added that the company will build an advanced, process-centered support system for its agents so that the sales field can focus on delivering the fundamental value of insurance, which protects customers' lives.
