CJ CheilJedang said on the 20th that it has applied "Color Universal Design (CUD)" at its Busan plant, a first in Korea's food industry.
CUD refers to a color design technique that helps anyone recognize spaces and objects at a glance, including those with low vision or difficulty distinguishing colors. CJ CheilJedang decided to adopt CUD as part of efforts to strengthen safety at its worksites.
The company first applied safety color design to key traffic routes within the Busan plant, including the central intersection, pedestrian guide lines, crosswalks and emergency evacuation routes. By using differences in color combinations, brightness and saturation, the company improved visibility and more clearly distinguished the movement routes of cargo vehicles, forklifts and workers, reducing confusion. In particular, it introduced movement guide lines and applied color design to safety markings on floors and walls, allowing pedestrians to move safely.
CJ CheilJedang plans to gradually expand safety color design to its other worksites in the future. Chang Ki-tae, head of CJ CheilJedang's Busan plant, said, "By piloting CUD, the Busan plant has become a meaningful starting point for creating a work environment where anyone can work with peace of mind." He added, "We will treat safety as our top priority that cannot be compromised and further strengthen the on-site safety culture."
