Megazone, the parent company of AI and cloud provider Megazone Cloud, said on the 1st that it will pursue an artificial intelligence transformation, or AX, of business operations in partnership with Hanmi Science (008930).
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding on the 26th of last month at Hanmi Group headquarters in Seoul's Songpa district, agreeing to combine Megazone's AI and cloud capabilities with the pharmaceutical and healthcare expertise Hanmi Science has built up to strengthen digital innovation across Hanmi Group.
Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly pursue the identification of AX-based business innovation projects, the strengthening of digital transformation capabilities, and projects related to AI and digital innovation. The aim is to jointly design AI services that solve real problems on the ground while offering practical utility and commercial viability, reflecting characteristics of pharmaceutical and healthcare operations that general-purpose AI technology alone cannot address.
The companies plan to form a working group to identify specific joint projects and review implementation plans. They also agreed to expand and upgrade the scope of cooperation in stages. Hanmi Science has already been running the Hanmi AI Boost Program across all affiliates, including Hanmi Pharmaceutical, to spread a culture of AI use and identify cases of business innovation, laying the groundwork for its AX push.
"To produce real business results with AI, technology must be combined with a deep understanding of the industry and the work itself," Megazone CEO Jang Ji-hwang said. "By adding Megazone's experience and capabilities in cloud- and AI-based business innovation to Hanmi Science's pharmaceutical and healthcare expertise, we will build business models that can create new value."
"AI is establishing itself as a core technology that determines corporate competitiveness, beyond being a simple tool for improving efficiency," Hanmi Science CEO Kim Jae-kyo said. "Through this agreement, we will expand AX-based business innovation at Hanmi Group and build a digital work environment where employees can work more efficiently."
