Lee Yong-joo, an actor known for the tvN sitcoms "Blue Tower" and "Rude Miss Young-ae," died on the 29th at age 44.
Lee died suddenly of a heart attack that day, according to television industry sources. The sudden death of the actor at a young age has drawn expressions of grief from fellow actors and fans.
A friend of the actor announced the death that day through Lee's social media account. "My friend Lee Yong-joo passed away suddenly," the friend wrote, adding, "I still cannot believe the sudden news." The friend also asked that "many people remember Yong-joo on his final journey."
A former model, Lee began acting with a minor role in the 2004 film "Doma Ahn Jung-geun." He went on to build his profile with appearances in MBC's "Hello, Franceska" and "Goong," tvN's "Rude Miss Young-ae" and SBS's "Two Women's Room."
He left a particularly strong impression on viewers as a bumbling new recruit in tvN's "Funny TV Roller Coaster — Blue Tower." He continued acting steadily, including in the "Rude Miss Young-ae" series.
A funeral altar has been set up in Room 5 of the funeral hall at Bundang Jesaeng Hospital in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. The funeral procession is set for 6:30 a.m. on the 31st, and burial will take place at the Seongnam Municipal Funeral Service Center.
