SK Telecom (017670.KS) is partnering with Seoul National University to train talent to lead the artificial intelligence industry.
The company said on the 24th that it will launch the "SKT-SNU Joint AI Program" for graduate students in the university's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, beginning on the 1st of next month and running for 15 weeks. The course covers three areas: AI applications and services, AI modeling, and AI infrastructure. It will showcase SK Telecom's AI research achievements and real-world commercialization cases.
The first lecture will be delivered by SK Telecom CEO Jung Jae-heon on the theme "Choices and Opportunities in the AI Era." Before an audience of about 300 attendees, Jung plans to explain how AI technology is transforming industry and society, and to outline SK Telecom's vision for the future of AI. Executives, team leaders and doctoral-level members of the company's AI development organization will then serve as instructors, including AI CIC head Yoo Kyung-sang and foundation model lead Kim Tae-yoon. They will share firsthand the skills and experience they have gained on the job.
SK Telecom has run industry-academia courses and hands-on AI research programs with Seoul National University and other domestic universities. This year marks the 10th year it has conducted AI lectures with the university. The courses have drawn a strong response as a curriculum that bridges theory and practice, earning high teaching evaluations.
"It is deeply meaningful that our long-standing industry-academia cooperation with Seoul National University continues once again through this course," Jung said. "We will keep working with academia so that today's students can lead tomorrow's AI industry."
