Samjin Pharmaceutical said it will help raise employees' understanding of dementia and support building a community where patients and their families can live with peace of mind.
The company said it held "Dementia Partner" training for employees on the 21st at the auditorium of its headquarters in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The program was organized by the Mapo-gu Dementia Care Center.
The training was aimed at meeting the requirements for "Dementia-Friendly Leading Company" certification. Through the certification, Samjin Pharmaceutical plans to help improve public awareness of dementia and contribute to creating a community environment where patients and their families can live with peace of mind.
The "Dementia-Friendly Leading Company" certification is part of the national dementia management program run by the Central Dementia Center under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It is granted to companies that contribute to building a dementia-friendly environment by having employees complete "Dementia Partner" training and by using their infrastructure.
Through the training, employees learned about the definition, causes and prevention of dementia, as well as how to communicate properly with dementia patients. They came to see dementia as an issue that can be encountered in daily life and broadened their shared understanding of the need for a dementia-friendly environment.
Having met the certification requirements through the training, Samjin Pharmaceutical plans to continue joining efforts to build a community safety net for dementia by working with the dementia care center.
"With the number of dementia patients in Korea projected to exceed 1 million, dementia is no longer a problem for a particular individual or family but a pressing challenge that our entire society must respond to together," Samjin Pharmaceutical President Kim Sang-jin said. "Using this certification drive as a starting point, we will continue our social contribution activities to fulfill our social responsibility and values as a pharmaceutical company, alongside supplying quality treatments."
