As an extreme heat wave persists, KT (030200.KS) stores across the country are drawing attention as places to escape the heat.
KT said on the 7th that it is operating 410 of its stores nationwide, including in Seoul, Busan and Daejeon, as heat wave shelters so citizens can rest safely amid the scorching weather.
By region, 213 stores in Seoul are being run as "Climate Response Shelters." In Busan and Daejeon, 127 "Neighborhood Climate Shelters" and 70 "Cold Wave and Heat Wave Shelters" are in operation. They are serving effectively as resting and refuge spaces set up to protect the health and safety of citizens.
"In cooperation with each local government, we are providing highly accessible KT stores as shelters," a KT official said. "A shelter certification plaque from each local government is posted at the store entrance."
