Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers set a rare Major League Baseball mark by hitting at least 30 home runs for the sixth straight season.
Batting leadoff as the designated hitter, Ohtani homered in the third inning of a road game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver on the 19th, Korea time. With the score tied 1-1 and a runner on first with no outs in the top of the third, he jumped on the first-pitch curveball from Rockies starter Ryan Feltner and drove it over the right-center-field wall. It was his 30th home run of the season.
Ohtani, who made his big-league debut in a Los Angeles Angels uniform in 2018, has topped 30 home runs for six straight seasons since hitting 46 in 2021. After joining the Dodgers, he hit 54 home runs in 2024 and 55 in 2025, clearing 50 in each of two consecutive seasons. His three straight 30-homer seasons as a Dodger make him only the seventh player in franchise history to do so, and the first since Gary Sheffield from 1999 to 2001 — a gap of 25 years.
Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants took a day off and did not play against the Cleveland Guardians, using the time to recharge. San Francisco lost 8-1. Song Sung-moon of the San Diego Padres and Kim Ha-seong of the Atlanta Braves sat out for a second straight day.
