San Francisco Giants outfielder Lee Jung-hoo extended his hitting streak to four straight games in Major League Baseball.
Lee started at right field batting fifth against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio, on the 21st (Korea time), going 1-for-4 in the 2026 MLB road game.
Lee, who had sat out the game on the 19th to manage his condition, kept the streak alive with a hit. He recorded his 37th multi-hit game of the season a day earlier and has hit safely in all four games since starting against the Colorado Rockies on the 16th. His season batting average, however, slipped slightly to .293 from .294.
Lee struggled early against opposing starter Gavin Williams. In his first at-bat in the second inning, he struck out after a nine-pitch battle, and he flied out to center field and left field in the fourth and sixth innings.
He broke the silence in his final at-bat. Coming to the plate with two outs and a runner on first in the top of the eighth with the team trailing 2-4, Lee lined a clean single to center off a 95.3-mph (about 153.4 km/h) four-seam fastball from Cleveland's fourth pitcher, Hunter Gaddis. But the run did not score after the next batter, Osleivis Basabe, grounded out.
San Francisco had a difficult start, giving up three runs in the first inning. The Giants pulled within 2-3 on Willy Adames' two-run homer in the fourth, but gave up more runs in the sixth and eighth to lose 2-5. With the loss, San Francisco finished the three-game road series in Cleveland with one win and two losses, dropping to 52-75 and remaining fourth in the National League West.
