Incheon International Airport Corporation is delivering food packages to 1,004 vulnerable households in the region for the Chuseok holiday.
The airport operator said on the 17th that it held the volunteer event, called the Chuseok Hope Angel Package drive, at the airport's Sky Dome on the 16th for low-income and at-risk households in the community.
About 70 people took part, including the fourth class of the Incheon Airport Joint Volunteer Corps, made up of corporation employees and staff based at the airport, along with officials from the Incheon Volunteer Center.
The volunteers assembled the food packages themselves. Each package contained instant rice, ready-to-eat meals and side dishes, chosen for convenience and nutritional value. The items were packed in reusable eco-bags to add an environmental element.
The completed packages will be distributed to the 1,004 households through basic volunteer centers in each of Incheon's districts and counties.
"We organized this event hoping to help our neighbors in the community spend a warm and abundant holiday ahead of Chuseok," said Shin Ga-gyun, head of the corporation's management division. "We will continue to carry out sharing and mutual growth activities that provide real support to the local community."
