Simmons has donated 40 million won ($29,000) worth of household goods to the community of Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, ahead of the Chuseok holiday. The donation continues a program the bedding maker has run every Lunar New Year and Chuseok since 2018, bringing cumulative support to more than 700 million won.
The company said on Sept. 17 that it delivered 89 six-serving Cuchen rice cookers for local residents at a "Happy Companion" donation ceremony held at Icheon City Hall on Sept. 16. Lee Jong-sung, vice president of Simmons' production and logistics strategy division, and Icheon Mayor Sung Soo-seok attended the ceremony.
Since 2018, Simmons has provided household goods including televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and vacuum cleaners to the Icheon community every Lunar New Year and Chuseok. This marks the 17th such donation.
Simmons Factorium, the company's headquarters and production facility, and Simmons Terrace, a complex cultural space, are located in Moga-myeon, Icheon. The company has continued a range of community programs as a business rooted in the region.
"We will continue to fulfill our social responsibility by looking closely at what local residents actually need," Lee said.
"This will help local residents spend a warmer and more abundant holiday," Sung said.
