GOYANG — KINTEX is embarking on an "AI transformation" that will bring artificial intelligence into both its exhibition operations and its wider management.
The convention center said on the 26th that it held a ceremony on August 24 to unveil its AI transformation strategy, presenting "AI HYPER MICE HUB, KINTEX" as its future vision. It plans to pursue 15 priority tasks across five areas: safety, operational efficiency, customer experience, organizational culture and the business ecosystem.
KINTEX will first build an AI-based smart integrated control system and a visitor big-data analysis system using vision AI. The goal is to jointly manage exhibition-hall safety and energy use and to respond quickly to emergencies. It will also introduce an AI-based electric-vehicle fire safety solution and smart safety restrooms to reduce blind spots in safety coverage.
The center will also strengthen operational efficiency and eco-friendly facility management. It plans to cut energy consumption using a building energy optimization simulator based on building information modeling (BIM) and digital twins, which was selected as a government national project and is now in a demonstration phase. It will also build an intelligent predictive maintenance system that detects early signs of equipment faults, establishing a framework to prevent breakdowns.
KINTEX is pursuing a demonstration project for a "layout-marking robot" based on physical AI that automatically marks booth boundary lines in exhibition halls. The goal is to automate the booth-partitioning work previously done by hand and improve the efficiency of the exhibition setup process.
The center will also offer customized services for visitors. An AI curation system linked to a dedicated application will recommend exhibitions and content tailored to visitors' interests. It plans to introduce augmented reality (AR) indoor navigation to make it easier to get around inside the large exhibition halls.
KINTEX will also build an AI work platform and a smart-work environment. It will actively attract international events in AI and advanced technology to expand its MICE business ecosystem. It plans to strengthen its role as a forward base supporting AI companies through globally organized exhibitions.
