The Chungcheong region will invest 20 billion won by 2029 to build an industry ecosystem, including nurturing companies.
Sejong City said it held the opening ceremony for the "Chungcheong Information Security Cluster" on the 27th on the fourth floor of Sejong SB Plaza in Jochiwon-eup, with about 50 people in attendance, including Mayor Cho Sang-ho, City Council Chairman Ahn Shin-il, Korea Internet & Security Agency President Lee Sang-joong, Sejong Technopark President Yang Hyun-bong, and representatives of resident companies.
The four cities and provinces of Sejong, Daejeon, North Chungcheong and South Chungcheong were selected in 2025 for the Ministry of Science and ICT's "Regional Hub Information Security Cluster Construction Project" competition. As the lead organization overseeing the Chungcheong Information Security Cluster project, Sejong City led the establishment of the cluster, handling project operation and performance management as well as the construction and operation of the cyber training ground and testbed.
The Chungcheong Information Security Cluster was established on the second and fourth floors of Sejong SB Plaza and features major facilities such as a cyber training ground and testbed, as well as company residence space.
The Chungcheong region plans to invest a total of 20 billion won by 2029 to build an information security industry ecosystem, including attracting and nurturing companies and cultivating specialized personnel.
Also on the same day, the Sejong Information Security Support Center held its opening ceremony on the fourth floor of Sejong SB Plaza. The Sejong Information Security Support Center is jointly operated by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and Sejong Technopark, and provides security consulting and service support and employee training for small and medium-sized enterprises that find it difficult to build their own security capabilities.
"The Chungcheong region will work together to build a strong cybersecurity ecosystem and actively pursue attracting excellent information security research institutions," Sejong Mayor Cho Sang-ho said.
