The South Korean government said on the 4th that it will provide emergency relief supplies worth 130 million won to help people displaced by flooding in Nepal.
The shipment consists of two items — 36,000 emergency thermal blankets and 2,320 heavy thermal blankets — and is scheduled to arrive in Nepal on the 5th aboard a commercial flight.
The government earlier announced $1 million in aid for Nepal on the 27th of last month, shortly after the flooding began. The money will be channeled through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to supply drinking water, first-aid and hygiene kits and basic health items to residents of the flood-hit areas. On the 1st, the government also dispatched the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT).
