An ice cream brand run by rapper Snoop Dogg is drawing attention with a job opening for a taster who will earn $10,000 (about 14 million won) a month and can work from anywhere in the world.
Eating Ice Cream for 14 Million Won a Month, With an Unusual Application Process
According to USA Today and Billboard on the 28th, Dr. Bombay, the ice cream brand owned by Snoop Dogg, 55, has begun recruiting a taster to help develop new products, in partnership with global human resources firm Deel. The contract runs for three months.
Deel is a global HR platform that supports hiring and payroll across multiple countries. The selected taster will not only sample ice cream but also research food trends and consumer preferences in various countries to propose new flavors.
The taster will also help develop marketing concepts, turning tasting experiences into social media content and meeting regularly with the research team to contribute to product launches and campaign planning.
The application process is equally unconventional. Applicants must submit personal information and social media accounts, and answer questions such as how much ice cream they eat in a week, what food or flavor combination they are currently obsessed with, and whether they prefer cones or cups.
Key qualifications include an interest in food, culture and current trends, along with strong communication skills. Candidates must be able to write up their research findings and communicate in English. Speaking additional languages or having experience in entrepreneurship, brand building or product development is considered a plus.
Prior work experience is not required. Applicants from conventional corporate backgrounds as well as content creators and other varied career paths are eligible. One condition applies: candidates must be able to evaluate the taste, aroma and texture of dairy-based ice cream firsthand.
Snoop Dogg Announced It Himself, Seeking Talent to Reflect Global Food Culture
Snoop Dogg announced the opening on his own social media accounts. Dr. Bombay said it is looking for talent who can bring global food culture trends into its products as the business expands. The hiring is seen as part of that expansion strategy.
Dr. Bombay was founded in 2023 by Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell Broadus. The brand has released products with distinctive flavors including Long Beach Fruit Cart, Sticky Caramel Apple Pie and Peanut Butter Jelly Time.
In June, it unveiled Snoopsicles, an ice bar combining raspberry, cherry and lime sherbet. The product is made without artificial coloring. A 24-count package is priced at $14.99 (about 20,000 won). Snoop Dogg's unconventional run in the ice cream business appears set to continue.
