NEW YORK — The woman killed in a stabbing near Times Square in Manhattan was a female executive at Bank of America, authorities said.
The victim was Erin Piacenti, 32, of Chester, New Jersey, who was stabbed to death near Times Square on the afternoon of the 31st, according to the New York Post and other foreign media outlets on the 1st.
Piacenti served as a vice president at Bank of America's New York office, where she handled business selection and conflict-of-interest management. According to LinkedIn and social media records, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and completed Fordham Law School in 2021. She had marked her second wedding anniversary on August 10.
Bank of America said in a separate statement that it was deeply shocked and saddened by the loss of a colleague and extended condolences to the family.
Local police said the assailant, Pamela Cisneros, 49, was shot by responding officers and taken to a hospital, where she died. New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the attack occurred without any provocation around 4:30 p.m. that day in the area of 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue. Police found that Cisneros first stabbed a 68-year-old man as he was exiting a subway station on the west side of 41st Street, then moved toward 42nd Street, where she attacked and killed Piacenti. The man who was wounded first is in stable condition at a hospital.
Officers who arrived at the scene used a Taser, but when Cisneros continued to resist, they fired live rounds to subdue her. Police are continuing to investigate the case as a random attack with no clear motive identified.
