Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH) said on the 9th that it will recruit tenants and waitlisted applicants for 3,821 redevelopment rental homes.
SH posted the notice for the 2026 redevelopment rental housing tenant recruitment on its website at 4 p.m. that day and will begin accepting applications on the 29th. The notice was first released on July 30 but was postponed on Aug. 10 to reflect feedback on the point-scoring criteria, and has now been reissued in revised form.
In the reissued notice, points for socially vulnerable groups were retained while points based on age were removed. SH said it expects the change to widen access for low-income young adults, who were at a relative disadvantage under the previous point system.
The offering covers 1,675 vacant units left over at 162 complexes across Seoul, plus 2,146 waitlist slots. Redevelopment rental homes are first offered to tenants displaced by redevelopment demolition, with the remaining units then opened to general applicants. All are small homes with an exclusive floor area of 39 square meters or less.
Applicants must be members of a household that does not own a home, must reside in Seoul as of the 9th, the date of the recruitment notice, and must have monthly household income no higher than 70% of the average for urban workers. First priority goes to those at or below 50% of that income level and second priority to those at or below 70%. Total household assets must not exceed 345 million won, and the value of any car must not exceed 45.42 million won.
Applications will be accepted online and by mobile from the 29th through Oct. 2 for higher-priority applicants. Lower-priority applications will be taken on Oct. 8, though that round will be canceled if higher-priority applications exceed 200% of the units available. For older adults and people with disabilities who have difficulty using the internet, in-person applications will also be accepted from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 in the auditorium on the second floor of SH headquarters.
Applicants selected for document screening will be announced on Oct. 23, and final winners on March 30 next year. Move-in is expected around April next year. Details on the complexes, floor plans, eligibility and application procedures are available on the SH website and through its call center.
