Hyundai Motor has donated 10 units of X-ble Shoulder, an industrial wearable robot, to the Korea Heritage Service.
Hyundai Motor (005380) said on the 9th that it held a donation ceremony for the X-ble Shoulder at the Haenggung-dong community service center in Suwon on the 8th.
The donation is part of Hyundai Motor's social contribution efforts supporting the national heritage care program run by the Korea Heritage Service. Under the program, the agency works with regional cultural heritage care centers and care workers to conduct periodic inspections of national heritage sites.
Hyundai Motor noted that care workers face musculoskeletal strain and risks of safety accidents while managing heritage sites located in varied environments.
The X-ble Shoulder, developed in-house by the Robotics Lab of Hyundai Motor and Kia (000270), is an unpowered wearable robot that assists shoulder strength. It reduces strain on the shoulder joint by up to 60% and can be used continuously without a battery. Built with automotive materials, it offers high durability while weighing about 1.9 kilograms, light enough to allow a range of activities in the field.
The donated units will be distributed to regional cultural heritage care centers in Gyeonggi, North Chungcheong, northern North Gyeongsang and the western Jeonnam-Gwangju area. Hyundai Motor plans to provide training for users at the group level and to keep improving the product based on their feedback.
"We will continue our support so that precious cultural heritage can be passed on intact to future generations," a Hyundai Motor official said.
