1. Hancom to Build 'AX Package' With FuriosaAI
- Key Summary: Hancom has signed a three-way memorandum of understanding (MOU) with affiliate Hancom Innostream and AI chipmaker FuriosaAI to expand its AI transformation (AX) business using neural processing units (NPUs) into the enterprise and public markets. The three companies will jointly develop an AX appliance that combines the agentic operating system (OS) Hancom is developing with FuriosaAI's second-generation AI accelerator RNGD (Renegade), allowing companies and public institutions to build and run AI in their own environments. Hancom will oversee solution development and commercialization, Hancom Innostream will handle NPU specialist training and education, and FuriosaAI will supply RNGD and its software stack while cooperating on optimization technology. "Based on close cooperation that runs from training AI specialists to technology validation and commercialization, we will support the AX transition of companies and public institutions and accelerate our push into the market," Hancom CEO Kim Yeon-soo said.
2. DGIST to Build Deep Tech Startup Hub in East Daegu Venture Valley
- Key Summary: DGIST has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' regional innovation startup promotion program and will build a deep tech startup hub in East Daegu Venture Valley together with the Daegu city government. A total of 3.5 billion won will be invested to create a deep tech startup base at the Daegu Contents Center, combining high-performance AI computing infrastructure with startup space. The plan is also to improve access to high-performance computing resources and specialized equipment that early-stage startups struggle to secure on their own, cutting the cost and time required for technology development. After basic and detailed design this year, space remodeling and equipment installation will be completed next year, when full operations begin.
3. Uijeongbu Meets West Virginia Delegation to Support Wound Bio's U.S. Investment
- Key Summary: The city of Uijeongbu in Gyeonggi Province met with a delegation from the U.S. state of West Virginia that visited city hall on the 8th, discussing ways for local biotech firms to enter the U.S. market and cooperate on investment in the United States. The delegation included state Deputy Secretary of Commerce Christine Davis, former state industry secretary Mitch Carmichael and Marshall University Vice President Tony Stroud, along with other state government and academic officials. The meeting covered plans to commercialize insulin raw materials held by Wound Bio, which is headquartered in Uijeongbu, as well as entry into the U.S. market and investment fund support tied to building local production facilities. "We will actively continue practical administrative support and exchanges so that promising local biotech companies such as Wound Bio can bear fruit in the global market," Deputy Mayor Kim Won-ki said.

4. From Walden in the U.S. to Wu Ji in China: Samsung SDS Assembles 'Robot Dream Team'
- Key Summary: Samsung SDS has assembled a "dream team" with robotics companies in South Korea, the United States and China and will launch a robot orchestration platform next year. The platform assigns and distributes tasks to different types of robots, including humanoid robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and collaborative robots, and manages their operating status in an integrated way. "Next year we plan to unveil a robot orchestration platform that connects and operates production facilities and robots as one," Samsung SDS CEO Lee Jun-hee said.
5. OliX's Hair Loss Treatment Enters Trials in New Zealand After Australia
- Key Summary: OliX will maintain its existing Phase 1b/2a trial plan in Australia for OLX104C, a treatment for male pattern hair loss, while adding New Zealand from Phase 2a to expand it into a multinational clinical trial. As a result, the total target number of subjects for Phases 1b and 2a will rise to 158 from 120, with the additional subjects handled by four trial sites in New Zealand. OLX104C is an RNA interference (RNAi) therapy that reduces expression of the androgen receptor (AR), a main cause of male pattern hair loss, and is being developed as a topical treatment applied directly to the scalp. "Relative to the increase in patient numbers, the number of clinical sites is rising more, so development speed should improve," an OliX official said.
6. Busan City, Pusan National University to Build 'AI Medical' Precision Medicine Base
- Key Summary: The city of Busan will invest 12.1 billion won together with Pusan National University to pursue precision medicine research and development combining AI with bio and medical fields. Pusan National University was given final selection for the AI Star Fellowship program run by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), with 11 billion won in state funds and 550 million won each from the city and the university to be invested from 2026 through 2031. Pusan National University will develop a multimodal AI-based precision medicine platform that integrates and analyzes ultrasound imaging, biosignals, genomic data and diagnostic data. Samsung Medison, 42Maru and Seegene Medical Foundation are also taking part to pursue commercialization of the technology.
