DN Solutions has built its first manufacturing plant in India, accelerating its push into the global machine tool market.
The company said on the 27th that it had completed an advanced manufacturing plant at the ITIR industrial park in Bengaluru, Karnataka state. It is the first overseas production base DN Solutions has established since its plant in Yantai, China, in 2003. The company said the move reflects its intention to make India a central pillar of its long-term growth and global supply chain strategy.
The new plant spans about 100,000 square meters and covers the entire machine tool value chain, including research and development, production, service, and training. Some 6 billion rupees, or about 86 billion won, was invested in the first phase, and the company is reviewing a second phase of similar scale in line with rising demand.
DN Solutions aims to establish itself as a top player in India's machine tool market on the strength of the new plant. It will first focus on researching, developing and producing goods tailored to the Indian market. The company's SVM series of vertical machining centers, LYNX series of horizontal turning centers and LEO series are currently drawing attention in India. It is also considering producing high-end goods such as five-axis machines in stages.
The R&D facility will develop products, solutions and applications in close communication with the company's four existing research centers in South Korea, Germany and China, as well as with solution specialists at technical centers around the world. A technical center opening alongside the plant will let customers see equipment in actual operation and secure optimized machining solutions. The company also plans to strengthen after-sales support through a repair and parts center and an academy.
Over the longer term, the India plant will also serve as a global export hub. "India has strong potential to become a global manufacturing powerhouse," DN Solutions Chief Executive Kim Won-jong said. "A large and growing domestic market, an English-speaking workforce, outstanding engineering talent and a young population are India's long-term competitive strengths." The CEO added: "Machine tools today are a core platform for physical AI. We will become the most trusted partner on India's manufacturing floors and take the lead in presenting an advanced vision for machine tools in a new era."
DN Solutions first entered the Indian market in 1994 by building a sales network. It has since strengthened its Indian operations in stages over 32 years, setting up a technical center in Bengaluru in 2008 and establishing an Indian subsidiary in 2016.
