LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) is pushing into the Nordic defense market with advanced maritime unmanned systems, led by its Haegeom unmanned surface vessel.
The company said on the 26th that it took part in DALO Industry Days 2026, the largest defense exhibition in Northern Europe, held in Herning, Denmark, on the 19th and 20th. It showcased core weapons systems including unmanned surface vessels (USV), a harbor underwater surveillance system (HUSS), an autonomous underwater mine-hunting vehicle (AUV) and the Hyungung anti-tank guided missile.
During the event, the director general of the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) visited the LIG D&A booth in person to review key exhibits and technologies. DALO is the agency responsible for weapons acquisition and logistics for the Danish military, and the visit signaled strong interest in LIG D&A's advanced defense solutions, including its maritime unmanned systems.
The security environment around the Baltic Sea and the North Sea has shifted rapidly in recent months, raising the importance of maritime surveillance and reconnaissance and the protection of critical maritime infrastructure for Denmark and other Nordic countries. Interest is growing in particular in unmanned systems, which can carry out sustained missions across wide stretches of water while reducing the risk of loss of life.
In response to that demand, LIG D&A plans to expand into the Nordic maritime defense market with surface and underwater unmanned systems such as its unmanned surface vessel, harbor surveillance system and autonomous underwater mine-hunting vehicle. The company intends to link unmanned systems with its existing technologies in surveillance and reconnaissance, command and control, and communications to offer manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) maritime solutions tailored to each country's operating environment.
"Northern Europe is a market where demand for maritime surveillance, reconnaissance and unmanned systems is expanding rapidly," an LIG D&A official said. "Based on our technology in advanced maritime unmanned systems, including unmanned surface vessels, we will open a new sea route for Korean defense exports reaching into the North Sea and the Baltic Sea."
