LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) and Korea Aerospace University will work closely together to advance defense technology in the aerospace field.
LIG D&A said on the 26th that it had signed an agreement with Korea Aerospace University to build a cooperative framework, at the 2nd Pangyo House in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. Shin Ik-hyun, chief executive of LIG D&A, and Huh Hee-young, president of Korea Aerospace University, attended the event.
Under the agreement, LIG D&A and Korea Aerospace University will identify programs to train specialists in the aerospace and defense industries and share plans for carrying them out.
The two sides are expected to pursue joint research across a range of fields, including the aviation sector, such as vertical takeoff and landing unmanned aircraft, and the space industry, such as satellites and ground systems. Cooperation is also expected to include industry-academic partnerships and exchanges of personnel and resources between professors and researchers.
The two sides also agreed to contribute jointly to projects to revitalize the northern Gyeonggi region in which Korea Aerospace University takes part, including the creation of a defense industry cluster and a specialized aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) program.
