HDC Hyundai Development Company has won a 245 billion won ($176 million) contract to build an apartment complex in the Jorye-dong area of Suncheon, South Jeolla Province.
The privately commissioned project will create 683 apartment units near 60-16 Jorye-dong, the company said on the 20th. The complex will span 11 buildings, each rising four floors below ground and 22 above. Construction is set to begin late this year, with completion targeted for the second half of 2029.
The site is well served by transportation and daily amenities. Residents can use Suncheon Station, a stop on both the KTX and SRT high-speed rail lines, and the Dongsuncheon interchange is easily accessible. Several industrial complexes are located nearby, giving the site strong proximity between home and work. Hospitals, large supermarkets and a central commercial district are within easy reach, and access to schools is also good.
HDC Hyundai Development plans to incorporate specialized design features into the complex. The residential buildings will be oriented primarily to the south, with distinctive designs applied to the exterior, landscaping and community facilities.
"Because we are developing in Jorye-dong, one of the most sought-after residential areas in Suncheon, we will work to create a premier landmark that represents the region," a company official said. "Drawing on the expertise built over supplying more than 500,000 homes, we will carry out this project reliably as well."
