Hyundai Engineering & Construction has published its "2026 Sustainability Report," reflecting domestic and international sustainability disclosure standards. The report comprehensively covers performance across the three environmental, social and governance (ESG) sectors as well as global evaluation results.
Hyundai E&C (000720) said on the 31st that the report reflects major domestic and international disclosure standards, including those of the Korea Sustainability Standards Board, the European Sustainability Reporting Standards and the international sustainability reporting standards. To enhance the reliability of sustainability information, the company built internal control processes across the entire process of collecting, verifying, reporting and disclosing ESG data. It also improved data consistency and management efficiency using its ESG IT system (H-SYNC).
The report was structured around three key issues derived through a double materiality assessment: industrial safety and health, quality control, and climate change response. It includes the management system, risk and opportunity factors, and response strategies for each issue.
In the environmental sector, the company is strengthening investment for the transition to a low-carbon society. Hyundai E&C is expanding its business portfolio into future energy fields such as offshore wind power, pumped-storage power generation, hydrogen and ammonia, nuclear power and small modular reactors (SMR). It secured funding for renewable energy business investment by issuing 310 billion won in green bonds and also pursued 779.7 billion won in green purchasing.
In the social sector, the company strengthened its disaster prevention capabilities through the introduction of smart safety technologies and the advancement of its safety and health management system. Through community-focused social contribution activities, it earned the highest grade (S) for the third consecutive year in the Community Social Contribution Recognition System last year.
In the governance sector, the company strengthened board independence through the introduction of a lead independent director system and the operation of an independent board. It received an excellent (AA) grade for the second consecutive year in the fair trade compliance program (CP), and it also operates an anti-bribery management system (ISO 37001) and an information security management system (ISO 27001).
Hyundai E&C's ESG competitiveness has also been confirmed in domestic and international evaluations. It recorded a comprehensive A grade in the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS) evaluation for the eighth consecutive year, inclusion in the Carbon Disclosure Project Hall of Fame for the eighth consecutive year, inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World for the 16th consecutive year, and an A grade in the MSCI ESG evaluation.
"This report focused on proactively responding to changes in the global disclosure environment and enhancing the reliability and transparency of ESG information," a Hyundai E&C official said. "Going forward, we will continue to build a sustainable future based on our three strategic directions of realizing a low-carbon society, providing better lives and building stakeholder trust."
