
LG Household & Health Care (051900.KS) reported second-quarter consolidated revenue of 1.6574 trillion won, up 3.3% from a year earlier. Operating profit rose 87.5% to 102.8 billion won.
Strong overseas business, including in North America, drove the earnings improvement. Second-quarter overseas revenue reached 584.5 billion won, up 12.6% year-on-year, accounting for 35% of total revenue. North American revenue in particular rose 47.3% to 205.8 billion won, surpassing China revenue (176 billion won) for the first time.
By business segment, the beauty division posted revenue of 818.4 billion won, up 3.9%, and swung to an operating profit of 44.4 billion won. The Home Care & Daily Beauty (HDB) division recorded revenue of 377.6 billion won, up 5.5%, and operating profit of 22.3 billion won, up 23.1%, as sales of functional products increased. The refreshment division, which focuses on beverages, saw operating profit fall 15.1% to 36.1 billion won, affected by rising prices of raw and subsidiary materials. Meanwhile, LG Household & Health Care's board of directors resolved on the same day to pay an interim dividend of 1,500 won per share this year.
