Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (000810.KS) said Thursday it has launched a new health insurance product, "On Total Coverage," which broadly covers not only cancer and brain and heart diseases but also liver, lung, kidney and musculoskeletal diseases.
On Total Coverage is distinguished by expanding its coverage scope to include liver, lung and kidney diseases as well as musculoskeletal diseases, in addition to cancer, cerebrovascular and heart diseases. The product introduces an integrated coverage structure designed to cover treatment costs for various diseases within the subscription amount and to allow remaining coverage funds to be utilized.
The liver, lung and kidney treatment cost coverage includes transplant surgery, resection surgery and high-frequency surgeries, as well as intensive care unit hospitalization. The musculoskeletal treatment cost coverage newly covers arthroscopic surgery, non-arthroscopic surgery and specific stem cell treatment for severe knee cartilage damage.
A certain portion of the remaining coverage amount can be used as accidental death benefits. In addition, the coverage amount is restored to the initial subscription level every 10 years after enrollment, enabling continuous coverage. The current remaining coverage amount can be checked in real time through Samsung Financial's integrated platform app "Monimo."
Services supporting recovery after treatment have also been strengthened. In addition to the existing hospital companion service and dementia genetic testing service, the company newly introduced a caregiver support service that provides home care and household care.
The product consists of a health disclosure type for customers with no history of hospitalization or surgery, and a simplified disclosure type that allows enrollment even for those with pre-existing conditions. Customers can choose between renewable and non-renewable options, and a no-refund type is applied to reduce premium burdens.
"This product broadly covers treatment costs for major diseases and also takes into account recovery and care after treatment," a Samsung Fire official said. "We will continue to introduce practical coverage and services tailored to the changing medical environment and customers' life cycles."
