Temperatures will swing by about 15 degrees Celsius between day and night on the 14th, mainly in inland areas, requiring extra care for health, the state weather agency said.
Morning lows will range from 14 to 21 degrees Celsius and daytime highs from 24 to 31 degrees, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration. Temperatures will stay near seasonal averages of 14 to 21 degrees for lows and 24 to 29 degrees for highs for the time being. Day-to-night temperature gaps of 10 to 15 degrees will persist in inland regions, the agency said, urging people to take care of their health during the seasonal transition.
Morning lows by region were forecast at 18 degrees in Seoul, 19 in Incheon, 18 in Suwon, 16 in Chuncheon, 18 in Gangneung, 18 in Cheongju, 16 in Daejeon, 17 in Jeonju, 18 in Gwangju, 19 in Daegu, 23 in Busan and 24 on Jeju Island.
Daytime highs were projected at 27 degrees in Seoul, 26 in Incheon, 26 in Suwon, 26 in Chuncheon, 25 in Gangneung, 26 in Cheongju, 25 in Daejeon, 27 in Jeonju, 28 in Gwangju, 29 in Daegu, 30 in Busan and 28 on Jeju Island.
Drivers should also take care during commuting hours. Dense fog cutting visibility to less than 200 meters is expected in parts of Sejong and inland areas of Chungcheongnam-do, while fog reducing visibility to less than one kilometer was forecast for southern Gyeonggi-do, inland areas of Chungcheong, Jeolla and Gyeongsangbuk-do, and inland areas of western Gyeongsangnam-do.
Fine dust levels will range from "good" to "moderate" nationwide on the 14th.
Sea levels are expected to run high because of a strong lunar pull. Low-lying coastal areas could flood and sewers could back up at high tide, the agency said, calling for caution. Beachgoers should also watch for safety hazards along the shore.
Waves will reach 0.5 to 1.5 meters in coastal waters of the East Sea and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in coastal waters of the West and South seas. In inner offshore waters, defined as areas within about 200 kilometers of the coastline, waves of 0.5 to 2.0 meters are expected in the East Sea and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the West and South seas.
