The Korea Tourism Organization is expanding its marketing in Thailand this year with a goal of attracting 410,000 Thai tourists.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization said on the 24th that they held a Korean culture and tourism festival, "Love Korea 2026," at CentralWorld in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 21st to the 23rd. The event drew 70,000 local consumers.
The venue showcased Korean tourism content including travel packages such as the Jeju Tangerine Marathon, run trips and pet trips, as well as K-food, K-beauty and wellness, and Korean calligraphy. The organization also unveiled a tourism promotional video featuring Yorch, an honorary ambassador for Korean tourism. Actor Lee Chae-min introduced hiking and culinary travel.
The concurrent Korea-Thailand Travel Mart drew 142 organizations from the two countries and held about 7,000 consultations. The organization expects the consultations to generate about 2.1 billion won ($1.5 million) in sales.
To turn the heightened interest in traveling to Korea into actual visits, the organization will roll out more than 30 travel packages fronted by Thai actor Yorch from September through the end of the year. The packages are being developed with the global travel platform Klook and will be based around Gimhae and Daegu airports. The organization plans to promote the packages together with 50 content creators.
The organization has set its target for attracting Thai tourists this year at 410,000, up about 23% from a year earlier. Han Yeo-ok, head of the international tourism content division at the Korea Tourism Organization, said the organization will continue to offer Korean travel content and products that reflect Thai consumers' preferences and local trends.
