
Lion Robotics, a South Korean maker of quadruped robots, said on the 2nd it has appointed Heo Chul as chief business officer, as the company moves to accelerate business expansion and entry into overseas markets.
Heo, who holds the title of executive vice president, joins as the company seeks to broaden its commercial footprint and push into global markets, Lion Robotics said.
Heo previously led the consumer goods and retail practice for Asia at McKinsey & Company, where the work included business strategy and overseas expansion projects for major corporate clients. Heo went on to head global business development at Musinsa and Kakao Entertainment, building experience in overseas expansion across consumer goods, platforms and content.
"With CBO Heo Chul on board, we expect to move faster in converting the results of our defense and industrial demonstrations into actual revenue and global contracts," an official at Lion Robotics said.
Lion Robotics is a spinoff from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Drawing on reinforcement learning-based control technology for quadruped robots that holds the record for the most citations worldwide, the company has carried out numerous proof-of-concept projects in defense, public safety and industrial applications.
