KT (030200.KS) is moving to roll out "AI for All," a public artificial intelligence model, across a range of digital channels including IPTV, in addition to its mobile application. The plan is to link specialized AI services in fields such as public administration, education, finance, shopping and housing into a single offering.
KT unveiled the blueprint on the 27th. Its core strategy is what the company calls "service without channel boundaries." The general-purpose version of AI for All will launch as a dedicated app and a web service. Beyond the app, KT plans to apply AI for All features to existing user touchpoints such as the portal Daum and the IPTV service Genie TV. The aim is to let users get the same AI experience within the services they already use.
The service focuses on completing users' tasks rather than simply answering questions. With user consent, a personalized memory function that retains interests, schedules and tasks in progress will be combined with Daum's search capabilities to deliver information discovery, recommendations and connections to specialized services in one flow. A general-purpose AI agent that understands what the user is trying to do sits at the center, linking specialized AI services across public administration, education, finance, shopping and housing.
Technically, the system does not rely on a single AI model but draws on multiple domestically developed foundation models. Solar from Upstage, Motif from Motif Technologies, Luxia from Saltlux, Varco from NC AI and Mi:dm from KT will be deployed according to each model's strengths, with the model best suited to a given task put to use. The setup also incorporates Rebellions' domestically made neural processing units (NPUs) and graphics processing unit (GPU) operating optimization technology from Lablup and Vessl AI.
"AI for All starts with building one complete AI that anyone in the country can use, but we will not confine that experience to a single service," said Lee Jin-hyung, executive vice president and head of KT's AX Business Group. "We will extend AI into the various services people use, so that wherever they start, they are connected to the AI and specialized services they need."
The government, meanwhile, plans to select an operator from among consortia including KT after presentation-based evaluations, with the AI for All service set to launch within the year.
