
XYZ said on the 25th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Galaxea, a Chinese robotics developer, to expand South Korea's robotics market and develop robotic applications for real-world environments.
The core of the partnership is installing XYZ's robot intelligence framework, BrainX, on Galaxea's robot hardware to develop robotic applications optimized for the domestic environment. As Galaxea's partner in Korea, XYZ will expand contact with domestic companies and industrial sites. The two companies will also pursue software optimization and technical validation tailored to actual work environments.
The companies will broaden the range of domestic applications around specific tasks, including task automation in retail spaces, clothes folding and factory operations. The focus is on optimizing robot hardware to the work environment and requirements of each site and turning it into applications that can perform actual tasks.
Data gathered from real sites is fed back into the robots' learning and performance upgrades. Data and performance metrics accumulated during task execution are analyzed and reflected in software optimization, which is then applied back at the site to verify performance. Through this repeated cycle of learning and validation, XYZ plans to improve task performance and adaptability to work sites.
Ahead of the agreement, the two companies had been testing the feasibility of applying the technology to robots. XYZ applied BrainX to Galaxea's R1 Lite model to implement functions for learning and performing various manipulation tasks. In a recent clothes-folding task using the R1 Lite, it ran at more than twice the speed of Nvidia's robot foundation model, GR00T 1.6.
Hwang Sung-jae, CEO of XYZ, said the company will apply the intelligence design technology it has accumulated to a range of robot hardware.
