
NCsoft (036570.KS) reported second-quarter operating profit of 173.9 billion won ($126 million) on a consolidated basis, up 1,053% from a year earlier, the company said on the 11th. Revenue rose 101% to 770.5 billion won ($557 million) over the same period. Net profit reached 131.2 billion won ($95 million), returning to the black from a 36 billion won loss a year earlier.
The success of "Lineage Classic," a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released in February, drove the earnings gains.
PC game revenue came to 343.8 billion won, breaking the quarterly record it had set in the first quarter. "Lineage Classic" generated 185.5 billion won in sales following its launch. As of the end of June, cumulative revenue over the 140 days since release stood at 269.1 billion won. "Lineage Remaster" also grew 18% from the previous quarter, demonstrating the solid competitiveness of the company's core intellectual property (IP).
Mobile game revenue edged up from the previous quarter to 185.3 billion won. "Lineage M" grew 4% quarter-on-quarter.
Mobile casual revenue was tallied at 169.7 billion won, or 22% of total sales. Justplay, a global mobile game platform, was consolidated for the first time.
By region, revenue broke down as follows: Korea 48%, Asia 25%, and North America, Europe and others 27%. Overseas markets accounted for 52% of total revenue, surpassing the domestic share. The overseas revenue share rose for a fourth consecutive quarter, showing steady growth.
NCsoft plans to take part in Gamescom 2026, the world's largest game show, which opens in Cologne, Germany, on the 26th of this month, where it will present a global lineup of new titles including Aion 2, Cinder City and Project Bonfire.
