The Netmarble Game Museum is launching its first special exhibition, "Press Start, Korean PC Game Stage."
The Netmarble Cultural Foundation said on the 4th that the Netmarble Game Museum, which opened in March last year, is holding a permanent exhibition that revisits the historical value of "Korean PC games." The exhibition covers Korea's game industry, including the golden age of console games in the 1980s and the birth of online games in the 2000s. It restores chronological panels documenting the history from the 1990s through the 2000s and beyond, and features a real-object showcase of masterpiece package titles by era. It also presents a keyword exhibition tracing the footsteps of Korean PC games through themes such as "people, content, technology, and localization."
The Netmarble Cultural Foundation recently reorganized its existing library space, dividing the area secured by removing movable walls into a "book reading space" and an "exhibition space" to recreate it as a complex cultural space. The Netmarble Game Museum is a comprehensive game museum that opened at Netmarble's G-Tower in Guro-gu, Seoul. It exhibits some 2,000 game-related collections that Netmarble has gathered itself or received as donations from citizens and employees, and it also has a space where visitors can experience the game development process.
The Netmarble Cultural Foundation explained, "We will continue to expand our role in recording and preserving game culture," adding, "We will keep developing it into a space that visitors want to return to and a museum that is good for families to visit together."
