The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) will host the "MOIP Tech Concert" together with SK Group, the agency said on the 23rd.
At the event, researchers from SK hynix (000660), SK Innovation (096770), and SK On will introduce the latest technologies in high-bandwidth memory (HBM), next-generation thermal management solutions (immersion cooling), and next-generation batteries, respectively. Patent examiners will discuss the latest technology trends and patent issues with the researchers, deepening their understanding of advanced technologies and strengthening their examination expertise.
The HBM, next-generation thermal management solutions, and next-generation battery technologies covered at the event are among the core technologies of the government's "Three Mega Projects for the Great Leap Forward of the Republic of Korea." KIPO plans to focus its policy capabilities on nurturing future technologies and securing the global patent competitiveness that supports them.
In addition, an intellectual property policy roundtable will be held the same day, attended by Jeong Yeon-woo, Deputy Commissioner of KIPO, and Jang Jeong-hwan, Vice President of the SK SUPEX Council. The roundtable will discuss strengthening global patent competitiveness in advanced fields and ways to improve the intellectual property system for the AI era.
Starting with this event, KIPO plans to continue holding MOIP Tech Concerts centered on national strategic technology fields such as future mobility, bio and food, and advanced materials.
"Since technological competitiveness leads directly to global competitiveness, protecting excellent technologies with fast and strong patents is more important than anything else," Jang, Vice President of the SK SUPEX Council, said. "SK Group will also work closely with KIPO going forward to help strengthen the patent competitiveness of Korea's advanced industries." Jeong, Deputy Commissioner of KIPO, said, "KIPO is responsible for connecting our companies' advanced technologies to strong patents that work in the global market," adding, "We will actively promote the MOIP Tech Concert so that it becomes a leading forum for communication where industry and patent examiners together understand future technologies and enhance the patent competitiveness of our core technologies."
