The Korea Intellectual Property Office said on the 23rd that it has developed three artificial intelligence (AI) agents for use in policy planning and other tasks, and is now using them within the agency.
The AI agents were developed by the Intellectual Property AI Transformation Task Force (IP-AX Task Force), which was launched in May this year. The IP-AX Task Force developed a policy meeting knowledge wiki (LLM wiki) used internally at the IP office; an AI archive that automatically collects, classifies, and analyzes AI-related press releases from overseas intellectual property agencies; and an AI agent that supports monitoring of legislative notices and proposed bills, selection of responsible departments, and bill review.
The policy meeting knowledge wiki uses a large language model (LLM) to automatically regenerate accumulated policy meeting documents into wiki documents and link them together, allowing policy officials to receive answers based on the agency's database through natural language questions alone. The overseas agency information collection AI agent enhances users' work convenience by having AI search and classify press releases distributed by overseas agencies in real time and then provide Korean-language summaries. The legislation-related AI agent is equipped with a function to monitor in real time the status of legislative notices by ministry and bills proposed in the National Assembly.
The IP office plans to foster an organizational culture focused on solving practical problems, including holding AI seminars and workshops in the second half of this year and supporting internal AI research groups. Jeong Yeon-woo, deputy director of the Korea Intellectual Property Office, said, "Going forward, we will discover and advance services that can effectively utilize artificial intelligence to drive the AI transformation of the intellectual property field."
