DAEJEON — Hannam University and the Daejeon Defense Industry Cooperative are jointly pushing to create an undergraduate contract-based degree program with guaranteed employment, aimed at training specialists in advanced defense technologies.
Hannam University said on the 21st that President Lee Seung-chul and Lee Kye-kyung, chairman of the Daejeon Defense Industry Cooperative, signed a memorandum of understanding and exchanged a memorandum of agreement to establish the undergraduate contract-based program in advanced defense fields.
The two institutions will first pursue a bachelor of engineering degree program built around Hannam University's Department of AI and Robotics Convergence Engineering as the host department, linking the university's educational infrastructure and full-time faculty with the networks, field expertise and research facilities of defense companies belonging to the cooperative.
The program, expected to enroll 20 students, will initially open a job-guaranteed track that connects graduates to employment at participating companies.
The two sides are targeting the 2028 academic year for the first intake and plan to adjust the detailed timeline depending on approval schedules from the Ministry of Education.
"Hannam University's contract-based program will greatly help train practical talent that leads advanced defense fields," President Lee said.
