
ULSAN — A worker in their 40s fell about 7 meters to the ground at a non-ferrous metals plant in Ulju County, Ulsan, at around 3:29 p.m. on the 16th while installing a ventilation fan on an upper level of the building.
The worker, identified only as A, lost their balance and fell after a plastic footboard they were standing on broke, according to officials.
Firefighters who responded to the call performed emergency treatment on the worker, who had gone into cardiac arrest, and rushed the worker to a nearby hospital in coordination with the Doctor 119 emergency medical service, but the worker died. The worker was employed by a subcontractor at the site.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including whether the safety footboard was properly installed, by questioning site officials and witnesses.
