Seoul's Eunpyeong District is running a life-planning program called the Value Up Class to help middle-aged residents prepare for retirement.
The program is open to 20 district residents aged 40 to 64. It will run five sessions from October 15 to 29, every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Seoul Youth Center Eunpyeong.
Instructors specializing in asset management and finance from the Senior Finance Education Council will lead the sessions. Participants will learn retirement financial planning tailored to their circumstances, including how to assess the structure of their retirement assets, prepare for medical expenses, draw down retirement savings to create a monthly income stream, allocate retirement assets effectively, and reduce taxes on gifts and inheritance.
"Middle age is a critical period for preparing for life after retirement," Eunpyeong District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said. "We hope this program helps residents design a secure retirement through systematic asset management."
