CHANGWON — Changwon, in South Gyeongsang Province, will open its park golf courses free of charge during the Chuseok holiday. A city ordinance designates the entire holiday as a closure period, but the city has staggered the closing days so that residents can still use the courses.
The city said on the 8th that it arranged the measure so families returning to their hometowns and other residents could spend a relaxed and healthy holiday. The Changwon Park Golf Course Operation and Management Ordinance designates the entire Chuseok holiday as a closure period, but the city said it took into account that the summer heat has eased, making the period suitable for outdoor activity, as well as demand for park golf.
Schedules are split into two groups. The courses in Daesan-myeon and the Bukmyeon course for people with disabilities, which draw the most users, will close on the 23rd and 24th and then open free of charge on the 25th and 26th. The remaining seven courses, including Hogye, Yongwon and Sosa, will do the reverse, opening free on the 23rd and 24th and closing on the 25th and 26th.
Operating hours are the same as in summer, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone who wants to play park golf may use the courses free of charge, whether they are Changwon residents or holiday visitors.
"With the Chuseok holiday here, I hope entire families across generations will enjoy park golf and spend a healthy and lively holiday," Changwon Mayor Kang Ki-yun said. "Since we have eliminated gaps in access during the holiday by staggering the closing days, we will do our best on safety and operational management so that both residents and visitors can use the facilities conveniently."
