HWASEONG — Hwaseong City said on the 27th that its official YouTube channel, Hwaseong On TV, has reached 100,000 subscribers and will receive YouTube's Silver Creator Award.
The milestone comes 13 years after the channel launched in December 2013. It is the first official channel among the 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province to surpass 100,000 subscribers.
Hwaseong On TV has steadily produced content aimed at explaining city administration news in accessible terms and expanding communication with residents.
Its flagship programs include "Hwaseong Ad," which presents policy information in short, lighthearted segments. "Hwaseong Express," which covers local festivals, and "Hwaseong Masil," which features encounters with residents across the city, have also drawn a following. "Universe for You," a vlog series documenting residents' daily lives, showcased the range of life in Hwaseong and helped spread a more approachable image of the city.
The city plans to hold a commemorative event for residents to mark the arrival of the Silver Play Button.
Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun said the achievement was meaningful because residents had built it together. He added that the city would continue to develop the channel as a communication platform that vividly conveys administrative information and residents' stories.
