BUSAN — A community sports park featuring an 18-hole park golf course has been completed in Yongwon-dong, Jinhae-gu, in the southeastern city of Changwon. The park is expected to become a leisure space for local residents and enthusiasts.
The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority said on the 26th that it had completed the Yongwon Sports Park golf course project.
Spanning a total of 32,335 square meters, Yongwon Sports Park includes an 18-hole park golf course, parking and other amenities. The authority drew up the project plan in May 2022 and began construction, opening the park golf course in February last year before making facility improvements based on user feedback.
The completion process focused on improving convenience for actual users. The authority adjusted the course layout and the location of the main entrance based on input from local residents and park golf enthusiasts, and converted an outdoor badminton court — whose use had been limited by strong winds and other weather conditions — into a park golf practice range.
A key feature is improved accessibility and ease of use, allowing first-time park golfers to play with little difficulty. The authority expects Yongwon Sports Park to develop into a sports destination that serves not only the community recreation of local residents but also park golf enthusiasts from nearby areas.
Information on how to use the course and its reservation availability is available on the Changwon Facilities Management Corporation website. Those who book online can use the course whether they live in Changwon or elsewhere.
"Yongwon Sports Park is a community sports space built for the convenience of local residents," said Park Sung-ho, head of the authority. "We will work to establish it as a leading local sports facility where many people can enjoy a healthy leisure life."
