PAJU — The Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator (GBSA) is accepting registrations and applications for business-growth partnering for "G-BIO Week 2026," to be held Sept. 16-17 at the agency's Gwanggyo Hall, the accelerator said on the 18th.
Now in its third year, the event is themed "Global Bio-Nexus" and focuses on sharing the latest developments in the bio industry and supporting corporate growth and commercialization. Through expert forums and one-on-one partnering between investment firms and large and mid-sized companies, the accelerator plans to expand opportunities for bio and healthcare firms in the province to attract investment, pursue technology collaboration and commercialize their work.
The event is divided into "Insight Day" on the first day and "Partnering Day" on the second. On the 16th, an invited lecture by Lee Chang-jun, a director at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), will be followed by the Gwanggyo Bio-Health Forum under the theme "The Future of K-Bio Opened by the NewCo Model and AI."
The forum will be chaired by Kwon In-ho, vice president of OliX, with participants including Lee Seung-gyu, vice chairman of the Korea Biotechnology Industry Organization; Ha Kyung-sik, CEO of IMBiologics; Park Eun-ji, a division head at D&D Pharmatech; Seok Cha-ok, CEO of Galux; and Kim Tae-hyung, CEO of BioNexus.
On the second day, pre-matched business-growth partnering will connect bio and healthcare startups in the province with investment firms and large and mid-sized companies. Investment firms including SBI Investment Korea, Aju IB Investment and Premier Partners, along with large and mid-sized companies such as Boehringer Ingelheim, Samsung Biologics and Daewoong Pharmaceutical, will take part to explore possibilities for cooperation, including attracting investment, joint research, technology transfers and open innovation.
Specialized consulting and legal advice for research and development and technology commercialization will also be provided.
A growth-strategy seminar aimed at strengthening the commercialization capabilities of the province's bio firms is also planned. It will offer expert lectures and tailored information centered on the issues companies face at each stage of growth. The venue will also feature a promotional space introducing Gyeonggi Province's bio-industry support policies and major clusters, as well as an exhibition space for experiencing the latest bio-health technologies.
Kim Hyun-gon, president of the GBSA, said, "G-BIO Week 2026 is an opportunity for bio firms to examine the latest trends in the industry and to meet investors, research institutions and partner companies in one place." He added, "I hope it will serve as a chance for the province's bio firms to find new business opportunities and collaboration partners."
Registration to attend closes Sept. 11, and applications for business-growth partnering close Sept. 4.
