UIJEONGBU — Kim Won-gi, mayor of Uijeongbu in Gyeonggi Province, chose the Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) Gyeonggi Northern Regional Headquarters as his first related-agency visit since taking office, throwing his weight behind public housing district projects in the city.
According to Uijeongbu City on the 9th, Mayor Kim visited the LH Gyeonggi Northern Regional Headquarters in the Yonghyeon Industrial Complex the previous day. He met with regional headquarters chief Kim Seong-yeon and other executives and received briefings on the status of major public housing district projects, including the Nogyang Ujeong District, the Uijeongbu Legal Town and the Yonghyeon District.
These three districts are considered the core axis of Uijeongbu's urban development. The two organizations agreed to cooperate closely, placing citizen convenience as their top priority so that each project leads to improvements in residents' quality of life.
They also agreed to operate a standing communication channel to address issues that may arise during project implementation, such as permit delays and disputes with residents.
Mayor Kim also showed interest in improving living conditions for LH employees. Meeting with LH employees residing in Uijeongbu, he listened to their views on local living conditions and said, "We will spare no administrative support so that executives and employees can settle quickly in Uijeongbu and contribute to shared growth with the region."
The LH Gyeonggi Northern Regional Headquarters, which relocated to Uijeongbu in 2024, has been adding vitality to the local economy by boosting foot traffic and revitalizing commercial districts around the Yonghyeon Industrial Complex.
"The LH Gyeonggi Northern Regional Headquarters is a reliable partner that will shape the future of Uijeongbu together with us," Mayor Kim said. "Through candid communication and cooperation, we will establish a win-win model in which the region and the institution grow together."
