According to political sources, Democratic Party of Korea leader Kim Min-seok visited the funeral home in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, to console Jo and his family. Kim recently asked party members to "refrain from directly naming or invoking (Chief Justice Jo) individually during the funeral period." People Power Party floor leader Jeong Jeom-sik also visited the memorial on the same day.
Lawmakers from both parties on the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee are also making condolence visits one after another. Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Seung-won, however, who was nominated as justice minister, is not expected to attend, citing preparations for his confirmation hearing.
