President Lee Jae-myung will hold a dinner on the 24th in San Francisco with executives from global big tech companies including Anthropic, OpenAI, Nvidia and Broadcom at a local restaurant favored by the city's AI researchers and residents. The dinner will feature California local cuisine such as fish and chips, fried calamari, crab cakes and clam chowder. President Lee and business leaders from both countries also plan to enjoy some light beer.
Kang Yu-jung, senior presidential spokesperson, said in a written briefing that day, "Just as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang naturally interacted and built rapport with our companies through Korea's food culture of 'chicken and beer meetings' and 'pork belly meetings' during his recent visit to Korea, the intent is to share California local cuisine and engage in candid conversation with AI company leaders from both countries."
Through the dinner, President Lee plans to strengthen mutual ties with AI company leaders from Korea and the United States who are leading the global AI revolution and to reaffirm his commitment to AI cooperation. Kang said, "Through the scene of global AI leaders gathering around President Lee, we plan to imprint upon the world Korea's elevated AI status as a core hub in the global AI supply chain, and to emphasize Korea's irreplaceable AI vision."
The dinner is expected to include CEO Huang, who attended the San Francisco AI Summit, along with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and Broadcom CEO Hock Tan, as well as Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon and Presidential Chief of Policy Kim Yong-beom are also scheduled to attend.
