Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on the 15th, marking the 78th anniversary of the founding of the South Korean government, saying China places importance on developing relations between the two countries.
In the message, Xi said China and South Korea are "important neighbors and cooperative partners," according to China's Xinhua News Agency. He stressed that "over the 34 years since establishing diplomatic ties, the two countries have helped each other's achievements through joint efforts, realized common development, and reaped rich results in exchanges and cooperation across various fields."
Xi also noted that he and Lee had exchanged successful mutual visits late last year and early this year, providing strategic guidance for the development of China-South Korea relations.
Xi said he hoped to work with Lee to advance the strategic partnership in the right direction, bringing more benefits to the people of both countries and making a major contribution to peace and development in the region and the world.
